Feng Hsin Steel Co., Ltd., a leading long steel producer in Taiwan, raised its rebar price by NT$300 per ton this week, reaching NT$18,300. The price of scrap also climbed by NT$200 to NT$9,200 per ton, while section steel remained unchanged at NT$24,000 per ton. Despite the hike, the adjustment fell below market expectations.

International trends supported the rise as Japanese H2 scrap rose to US$350 per ton and US containerized scrap reached US$340 per ton. Australian iron ore also increased to US$110.9 per ton.

Market participants now await Tuesday's price announcements from major southern mills to see if they will further exceed northern rates, possibly creating a price gap across the region.
