Brazil’s crude steel production grows in Oct y-o-y

According to statistics from Brazil Steel Institute (Instituto Aço Brasil, IABr), the country’s crude steel production totaled around 3.1 million tons in October, rising by 16% compared to the same month a year ago.

During the period, Brazil’s rolled steel production rose by 16% year on year to 2.1 million tons. The output of long products was up by nearly 10% year on year to 925,000 tons, and that of flat products increased by 22% year on year to 1.2 million tons.

In October, Brazil's steel imports rose by 41.3% year on year to 598,000 tons, while exports dropped by 35% year on year to 711,000 tons.

In the first ten months of this year, Brazil’s crude steel production amounted to approximately 28.4 million tons. Steel imports grew by 26% to 5.2 million tons, and steel exports slid by 16% to 8.4 million tons, both year on year.
