CAA: Argentina's crude steel production falls by 22% in Oct y-o-y

6 Dec 2024 16:18 reported by Raul Lee

A A A
According to the latest data from Argentina's Steel Chamber (CAA), Argentina's crude steel production in October of this year reached 359,600 tons, a monthly drop of 3% and a 22% drop in the year-on-year comparison.

It was said that the scheduled maintenance of a blast furnace in the country affected production; however, the weak performance also represented evidence of the challenges that Argentina's manufacturing sector faced to overcome the recession.

For example, the construction sector registered a year-on-year drop of 20% in its cement consumption during that month; so far this year it experienced a year-on-year drop of 26%.

For the automotive sector, the accumulated production of the first ten months of this year also suffered a year-on-year reduction of 20%.

On the other hand, recovery signs were being observed in the agricultural machinery, energy, and household appliance sectors, with positive prospects for 2025.
