According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled roughly 166 million tons in March, growing by 3% compared to the same month a year ago.

Among them, Asia's crude steel production reached 124 million tons, rising by 4% year on year, of which China's output accounted for nearly 93 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%. The crude steel production from 27 EU countries was 12 million tons, slightly rising by 0.2% year on year. The CIS countries produced 7 million tons, falling by 3.5% year on year.

During the period, North American crude steel output was roughly 9 million tons, going up by 1.4% year on year; South American output was 3.7 million tons, growing by 6.5% year on year. Crude steel production in Africa edged up by 0.6% year on year to nearly 2 million tons, and the output in the Middle East rose by 2% year on year to 5.3 million tons.

In the first quarter of this year, global crude steel output amounted to nearly 469 million tons, a year-on-year reduction of 0.4%.
