US faces tight stainless steel CRC supply amid global stability

21 May 2025 15:10 reported by Windy Wu

A A A
As of mid-May 2025, stainless steel cold-rolled coil markets in Germany and China remained stable, supported by balanced supply and demand. Both countries maintained consistent production levels, with minimal impact from imports or exports, ensuring resilience against global value chain disruptions.

In contrast, the US market is facing a supply crunch, driving stainless steel cold-rolled coil prices upward. A recent 25% tariff on foreign metal products has restricted imports, increasing pressure on local producers. With inventories falling and domestic demand rising, especially from the construction and manufacturing sectors, prices have moved into a bullish zone.

While Germany and China are expected to maintain stable pricing, US prices are likely to continue rising due to limited supply and strong end-user demand.
