Statistics from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) showed that Turkey's hot-rolled coil (HRC) exports had substantial growth from January to May this year, reaching 1.3 million tons, a 52% increase compared to the same period last year. The export value climbed by 30% to about US$750 million.

Italy was the main destination for Turkish HRC during the period, receiving about 352,500 tons, rising by 53.4% year on year. Spain and Portugal followed with 245,500 tons and 113,000 tons, respectively.

In May alone, Turkey's HRC exports totaled around 293,900 tons, up by 1.8% compared to the previous month and by 45.7% year on year.
