India’s JSW Steel and Japan’s JFE Steel Corporation will invest Rs 5,845 crore to expand their cold-rolled grain-oriented electrical steel manufacturing capacity. The expansion, conducted through their joint ventures JSW JFE Electrical Steel Private Limited in Vijayanagar, Karnataka, and JSW JFE Electrical Steel Nashik Private Limited in Nashik, Maharashtra, is to meet increasing domestic demand.

The investment will raise the Nashik plant’s annual production from the current 50,000 to 250,000 tons. The Vijayanagar facility's capacity will also increase from a planned 62,000 tons to 100,000 tons.

The new capacities will be operational in phases starting from fiscal year 2028. This expansion supports India’s energy transition and decarbonization goals.
