In the first half of the year, EU imports of semi-finished products and long products totaled around 171,500 tons and 3.94 million tons, up 65% and 6% respectively. Imports of non-alloy and alloy commercial bars and light sections totaled about 353,000 tons and 390,500 tons, up 15% and 117% respectively. Imports of angles, sections, and profiles totaled about 154,000 tons, up 48%.

Despite the increase in imports of long and semi-finished products, the increase was offset by a significant decrease in flat steel imports. Flat steel imports totaled 9.3 million tons during the period, down 12.5%. Hot-rolled carbon steel, coated steel, and cold-rolled steel totaled roughly 3.5 million tons, 2 million tons, and 100,0000 tons, down 26%, 7%, and 15.5% respectively.

Furthermore, imports of hot-rolled and cold-rolled stainless steel reached around 92,600 tons and 313,900 tons, up 36% and 62% respectively. Organic coated sheet imports reached about 486,800 tons, up 22%. Non-grain and grain-oriented electrical steel sheet imports reached approximately 15,300 tons and 129,000 tons, up 26% and 24% respectively.
