Pangang Group rolls China's widest titanium alloy plate for marine engineering

14 Aug 2025 13:45 reported by Gloria Qiao

A A A

Pangang Group has successfully produced China's widest TC4 titanium alloy plate (30mm×3,800mm×9,700mm), with microstructure, surface quality, and dimensional accuracy fully meeting standards. This milestone makes Pangang China's first enterprise capable of rolling 3800mm-wide titanium plates. Titanium alloys are widely used in aerospace and marine engineering. As marine applications expand, demand for plates exceeding 3,000mm in width has grown.

However, rolling such wide titanium plates faces extreme challenges, particularly surface cracking. To overcome this, Pangang's R&D team collaborated with Ansteel's Bayuquan Plate Mill to design specialized insulation tooling for titanium slabs and optimize heating and rolling parameters. This breakthrough supports critical needs for large-sized titanium plates in marine equipment.
