US imports more HDG steel in June compared to previous month

The preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC) showed that the US imported around 133,000 tons of hot-dip galvanized (HDG) sheets in June, rising by 21% compared to the previous month but falling by 44% from the same month a year ago.

The imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 61,000 tons, a month-on-month increase of 7.3% and a year-on-year drop of 23.4%. South Korea followed with a supply of around 13,000 tons. Indonesia ranked third with roughly 12,000 tons.

During the period, the import value of these products totaled roughly US$154 million, up by 17.4% month on month and plummeting by 45.4% year on year.
