International molybdenum price surge drives 316L stainless steel surcharges

29 Aug 2025 13:34 reported by Joy Liu

Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco), a leading stainless steel manufacturer in Taiwan, has increased prices across its product range for September, with notable adjustments to its 316L surcharges. The surcharge for 316L stainless steel had a significant increase of NT$3,000/ton, its third consecutive monthly rise, accumulating a total increase of NT$6,000/ton.

This price adjustment is linked to the rising cost of molybdenum. International ferromolybdenum prices have been on an upward trend since the middle of the second quarter, with costs reaching the US$60,000/ton level by early August.

The company's 304 stainless steel price was also raised by NT$4,000/ton, while 430 had a smaller increase of NT$500/ton.
