China’s Shougang Jingtang has commissioned SMS group to supply a new Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL) at its facility in Caofeidian, China. The new line will produce 450,000 tons of high-quality galvanized sheet annually for the automotive sector.

The CGL is designed for high-speed production of demanding automotive grades. It will process steel strip with a thickness of 0.4-2.3 mm and a width of 900-1,900 mm, with a process speed of up to 180 meters per minute.

SMS will provide the engineering, core equipment, and electrics and automation systems, including advanced surface quality control and intelligent operational controls.

This project, which represents the eighth strip processing line SMS has installed for Shougang Jingtang, is scheduled to begin operations by mid-2027. The investment positions Shougang Jingtang to meet the strict quality standards of the automotive industry.
