China’s Guangdong Guangqing Metal Technology Co., Ltd. is seeking approval for an environmental impact assessment for its new stainless steel quality improvement and continuous casting machine project. The company has submitted the assessment to local authorities, with a public review period from September 17 to September 23, 2025.

Located at the Yangjiang High-tech Industrial Development Zone, the project will add four 70-ton alloy melting furnaces at its existing plant. These furnaces will melt alloy raw materials such as ferronickel, ferrochromium, and cast iron, with a total annual melting capacity of 871,000 tons. The company also plans to install a new continuous slab casting line to produce 400,000 tons of 400-series stainless steel slabs per year.

The project, which has a total investment of approximately CNY 241.8 million, will be implemented within the current factory footprint and is expected to be put into production in March 2026.
