Jiuquan Iron & Steel Group (JISCO) formally launched its new 4200mm wide and thick plate production line in late August, a CNY 4.4 billion project completed in a record 547 days. This successful launch establishes the first operational large-width rolling mill in China's Northwest region.

The project adds an annual capacity of 1.2 million tons of wide and thick plate, expanding the maximum product width from 2800mm to 3800mm. The upgraded line enables full-series supply for critical sectors such as wind power and pressure vessels.

The main features include advanced AI smart steelmaking, which increased continuous casting efficiency by 20% and reduced labor costs by 30%. Furthermore, the project achieved a 23.77% drop in carbon emissions per ton of crude steel through green technologies, supporting high-end products to reach 70% of total output.
