Japan Iron and Steel Federation slams EU AD tariffs on hot-rolled steel

1 Oct 2025 16:05 reported by Joy Liu

The Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) is calling the European Commission’s decision to impose anti-dumping (AD) duties on certain hot-rolled flat products unjust and extremely regrettable.

On September 26, the EU determined that Japanese hot-rolled flat steel was sold at unfairly low prices, injuring EU industries, and announced AD duties of 6.9%-30% for five years. These duties affect products such as those used in automobiles and construction.

JISF Chairman Tadashi Imai stated that Japanese exports caused no injury to EU industries. The JISF said that around 860,000 tons of hot-rolled steel products subject to the duties were exported to the EU in 2024, and it will now study the ruling and plan a proper response.
