India lifts BIS curbs, boosting Taiwan’s stainless steel exports

14 Oct 2025 17:06 reported by Lena Yang

India’s Steel Ministry has temporarily exempted stainless steel flat product materials from mandatory BIS certification, easing the trade disruption caused by rules imposed in July. The exemption, valid until December 31, 2025, follows pressure from Indian steelmakers.

Industry sources said the move has reopened export opportunities for Taiwan’s stainless steel sector, which had been heavily affected by the earlier restrictions.
