According to customs statistics, Taiwan's stainless steel billet imports experienced a 32% month-on-month surge in September, reaching 28,618 tons. This increase highlights renewed activity in the sector, yet Indonesia remains the primary source country by a wide margin.

Looking at the year-to-date figures, total imports stand at 221,465 tons, a modest 6% year-on-year decline compared to the previous period.

Indonesia is the overwhelmingly dominant supplier, responsible for nearly 210,000 tons of the total billets imported so far this year.

Furthermore, Indonesia's overall impact is even larger when considering its nearly 790,000 tons contribution of other raw materials and hot-rolled products.
