According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled 141.8 million tons in September, sliding by 1.6% compared to the same month a year ago.

Among them, Asia and Oceania’s crude steel production reached about 102.9 million tons, falling by 2.1% year on year, of which China's output accounted for 73.5 million tons, down by 4.6% year on year. The crude steel production from 27 EU countries was around 10.1 million tons, falling by 4.5% year on year. The CIS countries produced roughly 6.2 million tons, down by 5.3% year on year.

During the period, North American crude steel output was roughly 8.8 million tons, going up by 1.8% year on year; South American output was 3.5 million tons, sliding by 2.7% year on year. Crude steel production in Africa went up by 8.2% year on year to 2.0 million tons, and the output in the Middle East grew by 9.3% year on year to 4.6 million tons.

In the first three quarters of this year, global crude steel output amounted to roughly 1.4 billion tons, a year-on-year reduction of 1.6%.
