Primetals Technologies, a UK-based engineering and plant construction company, received an order to supply a continuous tandem cold mill (C-TCM) for a major silicon steel producer in Hebei, China. This contract includes the complete line design, as well as automation and advisory services for the equipment’s installation and commissioning.

The new mill uses the Hyper UCM technology, enabling the production of extremely thin, high-strength silicon steel with superior quality and high productivity. Advanced automation, including Level 2 control with neural network principles, ensures precise thickness and flatness.

The mill is scheduled for operation by the end of 2027, and it is expected to greatly increase the producer’s annual output value and strengthens Primetals Technologies' leading position in the silicon steel industry.
