Taiwan's CSC keeps list price flexible to suppress steel coil imports

5 Nov 2025 16:23 reported by Ellen Huang

Low demand and fluctuating prices have been making the steel coil import shrink. Taiwan's China Steel Corporation (CSC) kept its list price policy more flexible to try to reduce the price gap compared to imported steel coils; this measure indeed suppressed the steel coil import volume.

Taiwan's coil distributors/stockists are still struggling with high stock due to an oversupply in the local market.

Some small deals with South Korea's hot-rolled coil (HRC) with relatively lower prices are heard, along with news that some importers are bidding low for Indonesia and Malaysia's HRC supply, showing the current low interest in imports.

Due to the low demand, Taiwan's steel coil import activities are expected to remain cold for a while.
