Taiwan's CSC faces competition from South Korean steel imports

18 Nov 2025 16:35 reported by Ellen Huang

A A A
After Taiwan's China Steel Corporation (CSC) released its new steel list price, South Korean Hyundai Steel's hot-rolled coil (HRC) offer is presented with a slightly higher price than the last deal. Importers are expecting the same price level and are still waiting.

For cold-rolled coil (CRC), South Korean mills tended to wait for importers' firm price bids rather than offer a price.

There is no solid deal ongoing as the players are all waiting for South Korean suppliers to reduce the price before deciding to buy the CSC project price or to import.

The market is changing quickly, along with the fluctuating exchange rate. CSC is forced to be more flexible, watching the market situation and facing the challenges. Market players think CSC might be able to provide a new special project price depending on the movements of the South Korean supply.
