Italy’s steel output rises by 2.2% in Oct on long product strength

25 Nov 2025 16:43 reported by Lena Yang

A A A
Italy’s crude steel production grew by 2.2% year on year in October 2025 to 2 million tons, the fourth straight month of growth as rising long-product output offset weaker flat-steel production at Acciaierie d’Italia.

Flat-steel production continues to lag due to weak demand and reduced operations at Acciaierie d’Italia, which is running only its blast furnace no.4 at about 4,500 tons per day, while blast furnace no.1 remains idle.

The Italian government, now overseeing the plant, is seeking a buyer and preparing a decree to inject new funds to cover roughly €200 million in maintenance.
