JFE Steel Corporation, a leading steel producer in Japan, has commissioned Primetals Technologies to supply a new continuous galvanizing line (CGL) for its West Japan Works in Fukuyama. The new facility is designed to meet the growing demand for ultra-high-tensile steel sheets, which are critical for automotive manufacturers seeking to build lighter, safer vehicles.

Primetals Technologies will oversee the design and manufacturing of the CGL’s mechanical components, including the alloying furnace, skin pass mill, and annealing furnace.

The line's capabilities will enable JFE Steel to produce next-generation automotive steel vital for enhancing collision safety and reducing vehicle weight.

Operations for the new line are scheduled to commence in October 2028.
