Japan's steel exports slightly rise by 0.9% in Oct y-o-y

In October 2025, Japan's steel exports increased by 0.9% year on year, reaching 2.54 million tons, realizing their first rise in the latest seven months. The growth mainly came from higher shipments to Taiwan, Thailand, and the US. 

Among them, Thailand was the top export destination in October with a total export of 408,635 tons. Meanwhile, exports to Taiwan increased 15.9% to 150,458 tons, and shipments to the US also increased for the first time in the latest two months, reaching 74,500 tons. 

From January to October, Japan exported 25.4 million tons of steel, down 3.8% compared with the same period in 2024. As for the fourth quarter, export volumes are forecast to fall by 6.1% to 6.2 million tons.
