US steel shipments rise by 9.2% in Oct y-o-y

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), US steel mills reported a 9.2% year-on-year increase in shipments for October. A total of roughly 7.692 million net tons were shipped, up from 7.05 million net tons in October 2024. Compared to the previous month, the shipment dropped by 4.2% from 8.03 million net tons shipped in September.

In the first ten months of this year, cumulative shipments reached 76.43 million net tons, rising by 5.1% compared to 72.7 million net tons shipped in the corresponding period last year. Product data showed corrosion resistant sheet and strip volumes increased by 4% year on year, while cold rolled sheet and strip fell by 3%, and hot rolled sheet and strip remained flat.
