Argentina's steel sector expects slight recovery in steel production by 2026

According to the Argentine Steel Chamber (CAA), the country's steel production is expected to finish 2025 by 3.9 million tons, a 15% increase compared to 2024. However, this performance is still far from the 5 million tons produced in 2023.

Carlos Vaccaro, CAA's executive director and also the regional secretary for Argentina of the Latin American Steel Association (ALACERO), commented that the country is recovering its steel production after the 2024 recession, but warned that the sector continues to face a challenging global market.

The outlook for 2026 is also positive with a slight rebound to 4.4 million tons, but the path remains uncertain. Long steel products, in particular, face greater challenges, given that the recovery will only be partial, with significant losses still to be recovered, according to the executive director.
