The Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) launched updated regulations for hot-rolled structural flat steel on December 24, 2025. This revised standard, TIS 1479-2566, mandates stricter chemical and mechanical requirements to ensure better safety and durability for construction and automotive materials.

Under the new rules, 65 domestic producers and 96 importers must transition to the updated certification via TISI’s E-license system. Authorities established heavy penalties for non-compliance, including up to two years in prison and fines reaching 2 million THB.

The TISI has implemented 237 steel-related standards, with five additional categories for coated steel awaiting enforcement to secure the national supply chain.
