Taiwan’s CSC & DSC’s steel shipments hit 8-month high

China Steel Corporation (CSC) and Dragon Steel Corporation (DSC) started the year strong, shipping 845,000 tons in January. This total exceeded their target by 43,000 tons, reaching the highest level in eight months.

A surge in domestic demand boosted this growth, with local sales rising to 498,000 tons as clients restocked inventories after the holidays. In contrast, exports fell slightly to 347,000 tons due to the slow post-holiday recovery in Western markets.

Looking ahead, Chia-Cheng Lee, Vice President of Commercial Division at CSC, expects steady growth. Factors like lower US reciprocal tariffs on downstream products, China's new export limits on low-priced steel, and rising demand from Taiwan's AI and semiconductor factory expansions are expected to drive future steel orders.
