Tosyalı Algérie to launch 1.4-million-ton cold rolling steel mill

18 Mar 2026 16:08 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Tosyalı Algérie plans to begin production at its new cold-rolled steel sheet plant in Béthioua, Oran Province, between August and September 2026.

This facility has a yearly capacity of 1.4 million tons, focusing on galvanized and coated sheets for the automotive, appliance, and shipbuilding sectors. The project integrates with the existing 2.5 million-ton hot-rolling complex that started in October 2024, creating a full flat steel industrial chain.

By 2026, the site will expand its total steel output from 6 million to 8 million tons while increasing its workforce to 2,700 employees. This move transitions the company toward high-value flat steel products, reducing Algeria's import dependency.

The expansion increases the number of major production units from 17 to 22 across the complex.
