Taiwan’s Chung Hung Steel raises April prices due to rising costs

19 Mar 2026 17:00 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Chung Hung Steel Corporation (CHSC), a Taiwan-based carbon steel producer under China Steel Corporation (CSC), announced price increases for its April domestic sales today (March 19), raising hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and galvanized steel by NT$1,200 per ton. Export prices for May will also see revisions based on regional market conditions.

The company said these hikes were due to strengthening global industrial activity, evidenced by the S&P Global Manufacturing PMI reaching 51.9 in February. Although raw material prices remain high, rising energy and logistics costs due to Middle Eastern tensions further increase production expenses.

With major Asian mills raising quotes and China reducing crude steel output, Chung Hung aims to reflect international trends as downstream demand recovers during the upcoming construction season.
