Taiwan’s CSC files AD petition against cold-rolled steel from China, South Korea

It is reported that Taiwan’s carbon steel producer China Steel Corporation (CSC) submitted an anti-dumping (AD) investigation petition to the Ministry of Finance regarding cold-rolled steel imports before the Qingming Festival holiday, which seeks to restore domestic market order against unfair price competition.

If the documentation requires no further supplements, authorities could officially launch the case by mid-May, with a preliminary decision expected by mid-July.

This petition follows previous actions against hot-rolled and electrical steel imports. While hot-rolled steel from China already faces sanctions, a ruling on electrical steel is due later this month.

CSC Chairman Chien-Chih Hwang previously confirmed plans to counter unreasonable pricing, and the current filing aligns with that strategy.

Under standard regulations, the ministry typically announces its decision to proceed within forty days of receiving the application.
