Taiwan’s CSC & DSC’s April steel shipments reach 27-month high

Taiwan’s carbon steel producer China Steel Corporation (CSC) and its subsidiary, Dragon Steel Corporation (DSC), reported combined shipments of 975,000 tons in April, the highest volume in over two years. This performance exceeded the monthly target of 940,000 tons, driven by strong international steel prices and strong inventory replenishment from downstream customers.

Although domestic deliveries slid slightly to 543,000 tons due to early shipments in previous weeks, exports surged to 432,000 tons. This growth was due to resolving shipping delays caused by Middle East tensions and redirected logistics.

Chia-Cheng Lee, Vice President of Commercial Division at CSC, said that global price increases in Europe and the US, combined with China’s production cuts, support a positive market trend. Total group shipments have now remained above the 900,000-ton threshold for two consecutive months.
