Pending AD investigation triggers wave of Chinese CRC imports to Taiwan

12 May 2026 16:37 reported by Ellen Huang

A A A
Taiwan’s China Steel Corporation (CSC) filed an anti-dumping (AD) investigation against cold-rolled coils (CRC) from China and South Korea in early April; however, there has been no formal update from the authorities so far.

Market participants believe the CRC investigation will only proceed after the preliminary ruling on electrical steel. Since the Ministry of Finance has extended the electrical steel ruling deadline to June 8, 2026, a window of opportunity has opened for importers. Therefore, many are rushing to secure as much Chinese supply as possible before any potential trade barriers are enforced.

Market intelligence suggests that deals for Chinese 1B CRC have already been finalized with Taiwanese re-rolling mills, pipe plants, and service centers.
