Taiwan’s CSC increases June prices across all steel products

Taiwan’s carbon steel producer China Steel Corporation (CSC) raised its monthly delivery prices for June by NT$500 to 1,200 per ton.

Hot-rolled coils (HRC), cold-rolled coils (CRC), and hot-dip galvanized (HDG) steel coils (construction and pre-painted materials) rose by NT$1,200 per ton. Other increases included NT$1,000 for electro-galvanized (EG) steel coils and HDG steel coils (appliances, computers, and other materials), as well as NT$500 for electrical steel (ES) coils. These adjustments reflected rising costs for raw materials, with iron ore hitting a two-year high near US$113 per ton and coking coal reaching US$240.

Strong demand in Taiwan’s AI and semiconductor sectors also supports this trend, as the domestic economy grew by 13.69% in the first quarter.

In the global market, limited supply and higher shipping expenses drive prices upward. Major international mills in the US, China, and Vietnam have already implemented significant price hikes, prompting CSC to align its rates with the strengthening global market.
