Italian government backs Arvedi steel expansion in Cremona for electrical steel production

15 May 2026 15:57 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Italy’s Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) approved a development agreement with the Arvedi steel group to upgrade its Cremona facility. The project involves an investment of EUR 82.5 million, with the state agency Invitalia providing up to EUR 22.5 million in funding. This initiative aims to increase industrial competitiveness and regional development through high-tech manufacturing.

The program focuses on producing non-oriented grain electrical steel, a material essential for efficient electric motor cores.

In addition to product innovation, Arvedi plans to modernize its vacuum treatment facility and research low-environmental-impact steel for car manufacturers. The company also intends to integrate new recycling technologies for raw materials.

This agreement includes oversight by Invitalia to ensure the project meets state requirements and supports local employment growth.
