Tsingshan Holding Group Co., Ltd. has greatly enhanced operational efficiency by increasing two smelting furnaces and a briquetting machine in its Central African smelter. The ferrochromium production could increase each day to several hundred tons, and their employees also increased from 550 to 1,000 people.

In the meanwhile, Central African smelters have established new steel plants in Zimbabwe. The first blast furnace was expected to produce in September of next year, which will be the largest steel mill in Africa.

The project will require an investment of US$1 billion and will include a carbonized steel plant measuring 1.5 kilometers long by 600 meters wide, an iron ore mill, and a ferrochromium facility, with an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons, and it was expected to create 4,000 to 5,000 jobs.
