As some power plants resumed power supply in South Africa, the Eskom state-owned power company recently restored the power outage level to level 2. It even stopped power outage measures for some periods. The future power outage level will not exceed level 6 (reduce 6000 MW power supply).

The Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa indicated that power shortage is the industry's biggest challenge. Production capacity is reduced due to a power shortage, and some employees must be laid off. Some member manufacturers have adopted power generation alternatives, and the related costs are estimated to reach 985 million ZAR.
