First Quantum Minerals, a Canadian-based mining and metals company, has started production at the Enterprise nickel mine in North-Western Province, Canada, and a new concentrator will be officially put into use at the beginning of next month. Another US$ 100 million was invested by First Quantum Minerals to complete the project.

The company said that the nickel mine will become the biggest one in Africa. The nickel production at this mine was expected to increase to 32,000 tons per year over the next two years, which will push Zambia to become a major supplier of battery metals used in electric vehicles.
