Simandou signs agreement with Guinea government for iron ore railway & port facilities

The government of Guinea signed the agreement with Rio Tinto Simfer and Winning Consortium Simandou to jointly develop more than 600 km of new multi-use rail and port facilities to export iron ore from the Simandou mining area in the southeast of the country.

According to the plan, the railway would be from the location near Port Morébaya to Forécariah, Kassa, and Nialinko and end in the Simandou mining region. The Guinean authority indicated that the development played an important role in improving local content, creating business opportunities, training, and technology transfer during the construction phase.
