China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) is building a 575km railway that will connect the Gâra Djebilet iron mine in Tindouf province in western Algeria and the national rail network at Béchar.

Gâra Djebilet is one of the largest iron ore mines in the world, with reserves of 3.5 billion tons. The operation of the new railway will connect Gâra Djebilet with industrial production centers and ports on the national network, promoting the development of iron ore mining in Algeria.

CRCC will cooperate on the project with state-owned civil engineering company Cosider Travaux Publics. Meanwhile, the operation of this railway is expected to create 3,000 jobs in the first phase.
