Sonatrach, the national state-owned oil company of Algeria, and Tosyali Iron Steel Industry Algeria SPA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to conduct a joint feasibility study on producing green hydrogen in Algeria using renewable energies.

This green hydrogen will be utilized to manufacture green steel at Tosyali’s steel complex. The partnership supports Algeria’s national hydrogen strategy, which aims to reduce natural gas consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Successful implementation of this project will be a major step towards replacing fossil fuels with green hydrogen in the Algerian industry.
