Salzgitter Group supplied the first batch of SALCOS® "green steel" to Allied Steelrode and Malben Engineering in South Africa for testing. This first delivery of green steel will be used in the automotive industry.

With Salzgitter’s supply, the companies become the first tier-1 automotive suppliers in South Africa to use CO2-reduced steel in customers’ vehicle manufacturing.

SALCOS® green steel has obtained the necessary approvals, comes in environmentally friendly packaging, and is transported on ocean-going vessels powered by biofuels, reducing CO2 emissions.

The collaboration marks a joint effort of these companies to strengthen the automotive value chain and reduce CO2 emissions. The initiative also supports Allied Steelrode and Malben Engineering to become leading suppliers of sustainable vehicle production.
