Bolivia's Mutún Steel Complex to deliver output in Feb 2025

According to Bolivia's Minister of Economy Marcelo Montenegro, the national steelmaker Mutún Steel Complex (ESM by its Spanish abbreviation) will deliver its first steel in February 2025.

The company's complex, located in the municipality of Puerto Suárez in the Santa Cruz Department, consists of seven plants: Concentration, Pelletizing, Steelmaking, Rolling, Power Plant, Auxiliary, and Direct Reduction. It has the capacity to produce 200,000 tons of corrugated bars per year, which will replace nearly 50% of the imports of said product in Bolivia.

It should be noted that ESM has the technology of eight countries: China, Mexico, Italy, Spain, Germany, the US, the Netherlands, and France.
