According to data from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), Turkey's steel production in 2024 totaled 36.9 million tons, an increase of 9.4% from 2023. Pig iron production was 10.2 million tons, an increase of 17.2% year-on-year.

In 2024, the steel industry started to grow after two years of stagnation due to the positive development of Turkey's infrastructure projects, including the modernization of metallurgical facilities and the recovery of various regions after the earthquake.

The steel industry is expected to continue to grow in 2025. However, global challenges remain, such as competition from Asian producers and market demand fluctuations.

Worldsteel predicted that the decline in Turkey's steel demand will slow down in 2025, down 1.7% year-on-year (35.5 million tons).
