Kardemir Karabük Demir Çelik Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.S. (Kardemir), a steel producer in Turkey, has ordered a five-strand combi-continuous caster from SMS Concast to increase production capacities at its Karabük plant in Turkey.

Scheduled to begin operations by late 2025, the new caster will raise efficiency by offering quick changeovers and can produce various steel grades and formats. With an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons, the casting plant is designed to produce three square billet sizes, one bloom size, and one beam blank section size.

Featuring a 10.25-meter radius, the new continuous casting plant integrates SMS technology to improve plant availability and product quality, with the production ability to manufacture various steel grades such as construction and high-carbon rail grades.
