British Steel has supplied rails for Egypt’s Green Line railway, which are managed by Egyptian companies F.A.T. and Orascom. This project will be the country's first fully electrified mainline and freight network.

Over 4,500 18-meter rails, manufactured in Scunthorpe, have passed inspection and were dispatched from the Immingham port. This batch was around half of the total contracted amount for the 60E1 profile rails needed for the project.

The Green Line railway will connect Alexandria to the Mediterranean coast and extend eastward to the Gulf of Suez and the Red Sea, transforming Egypt's transportation system.
