South Africa starts AD probe on China’s corrosion-resistant flat-rolled products

On March 20, 2025, the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC) announced the launch of an anti-dumping (AD) investigation on flat-rolled products originating in or imported from China, following an application submitted by domestic producers ArcelorMittal South Africa and Safal Steel.

The products involved are flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, with a width of 600 mm or more and a thickness of less than 0.45 mm, clad, plated, or coated with aluminum-zinc alloys, classified under HS codes 7210.61.20 and 7210.61.30, and flat-rolled products of other alloy steel, with a width of 600 mm or more and a thickness of less than 0.45 mm, otherwise plated or coated with zinc, also called thin gauge corrosion-resistant steel coil, classified under HS codes 7225.92.25 and 7225.92.35.

The period of the AD investigation is from September 1, 2023, to August 31, 2024, and the period of the injury investigation is from September 1, 2021, to August 31, 2024.
