Egypt grants fast-track golden license to all new Saudi investments

Egypt will now grant its expedited golden license to all new Saudi investment projects, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced during a meeting with a Saudi delegation. The policy seeks to speed up approvals for Gulf investors and eliminate administrative bottlenecks for projects considered vital to national development.

Introduced in 2022, the golden license acts as a unified permit for investment projects, allowing investors to bypass multiple regulatory steps. It also offers benefits such as land access and, in some cases, tax and customs incentives. With this new move, Saudi investors will automatically qualify for the license.

The decision is part of a wider effort to boost economic ties. As of 2024, Saudi Arabia held US$35 billion in Egyptian investments, with plans to reach US$50 billion over the next five years. In late 2024, both nations signed an Investment Protection Convention and launched a joint council to oversee future cooperation.
