In the US, people rushed to buy cars before a new import tariff kicks in, boosting sales in March compared to last month and last year. 

During the same period, exports in China dropped because of tariffs from the US, Canada, and the EU, but local car sales soared thanks to government discounts for trading in old cars and extra support for electric vehicles. 

Both countries saw a big sales boost, but experts worry about the future because of ongoing tariffs and trade barriers.
