Turkish steel producer Habaş A.S. is significantly raising its cold strip production capacity by 1.65 million tons annually through a collaboration with Germany's SMS group.

The expansion, expected to be completed by August this year, includes a five-stand pickling line/tandem cold mill (PLTCM), an offline skin pass mill (SPM), two continuous galvanizing lines (CGL1 and CGL2), and a recoiling and inspection line (RCL).

SMS group has already completed digital twin simulations for seamless integration and faster production ramp-up. The new facilities will enable Habaş to produce a wide range of advanced steel grades, including those for automotive and construction applications, strengthening the company’s market position.
